My name is Joachim Arts. In the last 25 years, I developed business software that improved the bottom line of my customers by using all kinds of optimisation and algorithms.

I embarked on a new journey: make it easier to audit your disclosed ESG data and provide reasonable assurance that this information is complete, verifiable, understandable and consistent.

Trust in disclosed ESG data is the only way to ensure that your business receives the validation you need to capitalize on your ESG investments. In essence, creating a level playing field for all.

Gerben Bas

My name is Gerben Bas. After finishing my PhD in complexity science, I spent the last decade designing and developing enterprise-grade AI systems, covering both the intelligence itself as well as the underlying infrastructure.

I decided to dedicate my time and talents to Engyon because I believe ESG audits are a crucial step towards achieving a more sustainable future and the latest developments in Generative AI enable me to actively contribute to that.

There is a lot of hype around the latest Generative AI developments, but with proper scientific rigour I am convinced that we will be able to support auditors in their work.

My name is Berend Berendsen. I love to build software that does something smart and makes a difference in the world.

In the last 20 years, I worked on solutions which make things easier and faster using AI and optimisation techniques.

I now start on a new adventure: making ESG audits easier, better and automated.

Frequently asked questions

• What type of audits does Engyon support?

  We provide audit automation for assurance firms who have CSRD assurance work, assigned by their customers. Our software currently supports the following work programs (link to work program page):

  • VSME limited – this program consists of work instructions derived from EFRAG’s voluntary VSME reporting standards and can be used to audit VSME companies who voluntarily decide to audit their sustainability reporting, based on limited assurance.
  • Interim ESRS – limited – this program consists of ESRS2 and one or more topical standards (e.g. S1, E1), based on limited assurance and ISSA5000.
  • Full ESRS – limited – this program consists of the full ESRS set of work instructions based on limited assurance and ISSA5000.

• How do you provide automated support to an auditor and the audit team?

  The Engyon software provides support in defining risks per material topic, finding references automatically in all types of documents and making sure that audits are executed properly, according to the QSGM-1 quality standards.

• Which customers do you serve?

  Engyon is designed for and by auditors. We only serve assurance firms and at this time we only provide audit support for CSRD. Most of our customers are small- and medium-sized assurance firms with 5-50 CSRD customers.

• Is your software secure?

  Engyon is built around the principle of private AI: no data or documents are shared with any of the genAI providers that we use for training purposes. All AI models are hosted in private clouds and do not allow for outside access or data sharing.

• Do you use customer data to train your AI?

  We do not use customer data to train our AI models. However, in accordance with our terms of service, we generate high-level analytics data (anonymously and without using any GDPR sensitive data) to improve our recommendation services. This means we only store risks, checks and user feedback to improve our product development. If you have any questions about this, please reach out.

• Is my data secure?

  Engyon is designed with security in mind. We use MFA (multi-factor authentication) for login. We encrypt all customer data and only process data in private clouds. We are in the process of receiving our ISO27001 certificate and are SOC2 compliant.

• How long do you store my data?

  We store your audit files, data, documents and the results for a minimum of seven years, according to the law. We also support the storage of multi-year audit files that show sustainability performance of a particular undertaking across multiple audit years. This helps with developing a sound professional opinion on the risk of material misstatement.

• What AI models are used?

  Engyon uses a variety of different services, ranging from OpenAI GPT to Meta Llama to Anthropic Claude. For each specific use case, we find the right and economically viable solution to support that use case.
